Football Friday : South Africa vs Spain - A Dream Game for SA

On Tuesday evening I made my way to the FNB Stadium (Soccer City, during the 2010 Soccer World Cup) this is the stadium where I watched Justin Bieber perform, where Spain became world champions for the first time and where South Africa shocked Spain into their second defeat of the year.

I honestly battled to decide who I would be supporting because Spain is my favourite team and well, Bafana is my Country. So I decided the way any girl would - which shirt looked better and it turned out to be Spain.

Dean's reaction to Bafana's goal

Of course at that time I did not think I was going to get caught on camera at the end of the game and then receive several messages from friends who saw me!

BUT believe it or not, that was not the most exciting thing that happened to me that night - the most exciting thing that happened was Pepe Reina waving at Charne and me! It was an awkward wave - because Charne and I were the only two waving like crazies but it was so worth it because not only is he hot, he plays for Spain and is a Liverpool favourite :)

The game was so much fun and it really helped me feel better because I've been having a bit of a tough time. There was so much eye candy going around, I was so entertained! I even spotted this guy who is so channelling Harvey Spector.

Anyway, enough with the stalking pictures - I had an amazing experience even though Spain lost.

What's the most exciting thing that happened to you this week?

November Football Fun!

This month is turning out to be extremely exciting (in certain aspects) because a certain person (ME!) gets to watch not one but two teams I absolutely LOVE within days....

I wish I could make this post more "professional" - if there is such a thing for blogs but I simply cannot contain my excitement.

While it is Liverpool Legends which means my Stevie Gerrard won't be in the team I still get to watch Liverpool in my own country and some of the greatest players will be there and I cannot wait. I am also really looking forward to being around people who share my passion for Liverpool. AND my dad bought awesome tickets!!!
A Young John Barnes

Then on Tuesday, I get to watch Spain verse my country and while a lot of people are saying that Bafana Bafana will be whipped, on the two previous occasions in which Bafana played Spain we played really well. Perhaps it's that saying that applies : When you socialise with more intelligent people you will think on their level. Maybe when Bafana plays Spain they realise they are playing the greatest team currently out there and they want to ensure that that they look good doing it?

Either way, as you should know, I LOVE Fernando Torres but turns out he's not coming as he is injured :( I literally had to take a moment to process that when I found out. I love that man and I'm sad he's not coming but as it turns out, there will be some new talent coming along. Also, Gerard Pique, Xavi and Jordi Alba won't be making it which makes me sad BUT Pepe Reina will be coming as will Xabi Alonso and David Villa and how could I forget Cesc Fabregas?

And when I thought I had good tickets for Liverpool Legends vs Kaizer Chiefs.. my dad did better (2 rows better) for the Spain game.

I am so thrilled that I get to visit the Moses Mabida Stadium for a game, which I haven't done before and then I get to go back to the FNB Stadium, to watch the champions of the world!

So.. I will do game reviews next week with loads of photos I'm sure! I'll also be positng on Instagram and Twitter!

What is going on with you that makes you as excited as me? Have you seen any of these teams play? Who will you be supporting?

Have a great weekend and enjoy some good football!!

Football Friday :Miguel Ángel Britos Cabrera

After the whole Blogtember challenge, I must be honest I am feeling really tired and I have been so busy in my day to day life that I haven't been able to blog much.

Today will be quick, I am not sure if I should continue with Football Friday or if I should switch to another day reserved for some good old eye candy. So tell me what you think I should do?

Today is all about an Uruguayan footballer who plays for Napoli FC, which means he lives in Italy (lucky him).   I actually became aware of him from a picture that Pepe Reina posted on his facebook page.

Therefore I cannot tell you much about his ability but I will be sure to watch the next Napoli game and see if he looks better on TV or in pictures!

In the News:
1. Aresenal appears to be doing well this season, then again, they always start off well but I am unconvinced that they will be able to keep up at this level unless Ozil really is something magical...?
2. It appears that despite the rumours, Qatar will still host the 2018 World Cup.
3. Man United are playing badly and everyone is playing the blame game.

and

Liverpool FC have released their new team photo

Don't you think he looks similar to Nacer Chali?

Football Friday : Roque Santa Cruz

While he is insanely good looking he's actually also a really good player.

Roque is from Paraguay and has played in three of the top leagues in the world, the Budesliga, Barclays Premier Legaue and La Liga!

This man is talented and I really like his name.

What do you think of him? Ok, I know this is a really short post but I should be posting again later today plus... there's nothing wrong with just a little bit of eye candy

OH! Can I just add... Liverpool beat Man United on Sunday * Happy Dance *

Football Friday: Welcome back Barclays Premier League

I am beyond excited that the Baclays Premier League is back! Soooo in honour of my returning adrenaline rush I thought this post could introduce some of the new players in the premier league! I though it was going to be easy but this was hard... where's all the eye candy going?

I tried really hard and this is all I could come up with..

Manchester City was the first real potential: Jesus Nevas (Previous Team Sevilla)

Our next contender comes from Norwich City - Ricky Van Wolfswinkel (Sp
orting Lisbon)

Tottenham Hotspur :One of my old post's on footie hottie - Nacer Chadli

While there is so much in the news as to who's staying and who's going I can safely admit that I have no idea who is goign to wint the premier league this year.

It will be fun to have Mourinho back at Chelsea, it's good news, for now, that Luis Suarez is staying at Liverpool and this will be my first season of watching the premier league and there will be no Alex Ferguson.

I always feel like the start of the premier league is a chance at  a new beginning - I'll post more about that this weekend!

Also, remeber I am looking for guest bloggers

Have an awesome weekend peeps

Football Friday : Woman's Day Special

I decided for South Africa's National Woman's Day I would do a recap with links to all my previous football Friday posts. Have a look at them and tell me which you like most?

* The Most popular footballer of our generation (or Ever!) David Beckham

* The player you either love or hate, Mr Cristiano Ronaldo

* Pepe Reina, who I am still, heartbroken has been loaned out of Liverpool

* A little special on the Spanish vs Germans

* The ultimate Italian Stallion, Fabio Cannavaro

* Bad boy Belgium hottie, Eden Hazard

* My Favourite man in the world, Liverpool's amazing Captain Fantastic

* My second favourite man in football, also the man who made me cry when he left, Fernando Torres

* The Spanish Stopper - Iker Casillas

* An unexpected find in Nacer Chali

* And most recently, Soccer Veteran, Sexy Freddie

Also, in the news this week, I must be honest I have been extremely preoccupied with the Luis Suarez saga and to be upfront with all of you, I am absolutely disgusted at the way in which the matter has been handled by Luis Suarez AND Brendan Rodgers. Now I am understanding of Luis Suarez being a hand full but I do not think that Brendan Rodgers needed to respond in a child like manner.  I do appreciate that John Henry's Liverpool's owner has stepped up and had the balls to say "Luis Suarez is not for sale".

I am not sure what the outcome will be but I think that no matter what happens, Luis Suarez is ANOTHER player who the Liverpool faithful have handed their hearts too who is practically spitting in their faces.

Football Friday : Freddie Ljungberg

Ok so I am sort of cheating with this week's Footie Hottie by using an old fan favourite in the form of Mt Freddie Ljungberg BUT considering that the Barclays Premier League will be starting this month I can't help but reflect on some of my old favourites including him.

Freddie is a retired Swedish footballer BUT he was also a Calvin Kein model, and by the pictures below, you'll understand why!
Freddie played for a number of teams over his professional career but most noticeably, Aresenal. He was part of what could be considered one of Aresenal's most successful teams.

He endeared himself to Arsenal supporters by having a bright red stripe in his hair."We love you Freddie, because you've got red hair, we love you Freddie because you're everywhere, we love you Freddie, you're Arsenal through and through" Later when he shaved his head this was updated to "We love you Freddie, because you've got no hair").

It's no wonder that they have now named him an Aresenal ambassedor of the club.

Onto Some Football News:
*Apparently Gareth Bale is desperate to leave Tottenham Hotspur for Real Madrid. I suppose he wants to get more of the Spanish sun in. The big question is, if Bale leaves, who will Totts buy to replace him?

* Rumour has it that Cristiano Ronaldo may be on his way back to Manchester however this purchase will cost around 80 million Euros!

* Also, Wayne Rooney, may decide to stay at Manchester United, depending on how the fans receive him during the pre-season friendlies.

*Is Liverpool FC up for sale again? According to Fenway this rumour is not true.

*Lastly, Liverpool loaned Pepe Reina out to Napoli and he wrote an open letter to the Liverpool fans AND the emotion which comes through his letter is so thick and you can tell he is incredibly hurt by the way in which the loan deal occurred. I have to tell you, I am so angry with Brendan Rogers as I really don't believe that we should have loaned him out.

Either way, have a good weekend everyone! x

Football Friday: Nacer Chali

While looking for some football Friday inspiration I came across a tumblr account which has loads of eye candy and which helped me find today's hottie!

He is Belgium (I think I should be taking a trip there, remember Eden Hazard?!) but he also has Moroccan ancestry which completely explains the look.

While I am aware that most if my readers are females and not necessarily into football as much as I am, I must warn all of you that once we get closer and closer to the season I will be including some soccer news highlights or my views on games etc. Now, don't moan... I promise you just having some sort knowledge about the game will impress your guy!

Back to this week's footie hottie... like I mentioned, I found him off another site but that's probably because he doesn't play for one of the most widely popular teams, FC Twente however he has managed to feature in the Champions League. Nacer, has dual citizenship however he has chosen to represent Belgium ahead of Morrocco.

There is not much informationI could find on him but I did find out that Swansea City may want to buy him which means he could be heading to the English Premier League but in the midst of researching him I came accross this article which says he could be heading my team! Is it fate, i sure hope so.. I imagine he will look great on the calendar!

Here are some pics to show you why I think he deserves to be Footie Hottie of the Week!

And he was so kind as to show us from the back ...

And while I was not sure if I should post this one, my rationing was simple.. who am I to choose  what you should and should not see?

Now tell me, wouldn't you want him to be in your calendar?

Have a good weekend everyone!

Football Friday : Iker Casilias

I promise, that Football Friday won't all be about the Spanish National Team but in light of last night's match (Spain beating Italy 7-6 on penalties ) and the huge role that the Spanish Stallion captain and goalkeeper played deserves some recognition.

Iker, is hot but also somewhat of a loner which is probably what makes him that much more appealing for me.

While I have always been aware of him, since I started supporting Spain in 2006, he was solidified as a firm favourite man candy after he lead Spain to winning the World Cup in 2010 in my lovely country, South Africa.  Here is the video which pushed him to the "I want a guy like that" list:

He is so incredibly endearing in this video and I know you just went  "Aaaaaahhhh" even if it was in your head.

Apparently there was a whole lot drama by the Spanish press for his average performance in the Spain v Switzerland game where he conceded a goal and she was blamed as a distraction.

He has also recently experienced some difficulties with an injury and now what sounds like a difficult relationship with Jose Mourinho who was the Real Madrid coach ( now Chelsea FC manager) but he is now feeling like a new man and it showed in his game last night. He pulled of the most incredible saves that had me on the edge of my seat.

An interesting story is that when he was younger he forgot to post his father's predicted team wins which his father had predicted correctly which lead to them missing out on over One million Euros! I'm sure he was now repaid his father on that lottery ticket....

If all of that didn't convince you he is a sweetheart and worthy of this post, maybe these will assist...

As a side note, I was feeling a bit.. off yesterday and even though I stayed up later than usual to watch the game and I feel as if I have sand in my eyes today, watching my team win an important game on penalties was exhilarating and stressful at the same time. It reminded me of my passion for the game. Do you have anything that centers you when you feel off like I did?

OH! And I promise I will be featuring other players who are neither Liverpool or Spanish, if you have any ideas as to who I can feature please let me know

Have a wonderful weekend

Football Friday for Four Times Scorer Fernando Torres

Last night, Spain beat Taiheti 10-0 in the Confederations Cup 2013. That is embaressing and sad and even though I am a Spain support I found myself hoping the game would just be called off early to spare the team the embaressment.

However that was not to be and one of my favourite men, Fernando Torres, got to score four times.

Onto Fernando Torres, for those of my readers who know me (in person) it is more than likely that you will know that I love this man. So much so that I cried my heart out when he left Liverpool FC.
Please understand (before you judge me) two things
1. When I am passionate about something I give my all
2. It is not only that he left for Chelsea it's the way in which he left that was heart-breaking.

So back to my story, Torres is this cute and very shy Spanish player that was a born and bred Atletico Madrid player, who moved to Liverpool FC and captured the hearts of the city as well as all the fans worldwide.

Some facts about him (by the way these are all facts I know off by heart):
* He has green eyes and blonde hair but he changes his hairstyles a lot
* He is superstitous so when he beleives he is having a bad luck streak he will change his hair
* He has scored in the following finals: Euros, Champions League, Europa league and World Cup
* He has a lot of medals
* He adores playing with Steven Gerrard (do I blame him? NO :) )
* He married his childhoos sweetheart
* He likes kids and kids like him
* He has lots of tattoos
* He has these amazing thighs....

AND I love his neck, I can't explain it but his neck, is so manly.

Here are some pics of him BUT word of warning I will do another post of him in the future because I love him like that.

Have a great weekend all
