One Direction - On The Road Again Tour

Good morning lovely people from all around the world! Well technically it’s good afternoon, because I am actually prepping this post on Sunday! Yes, you read me correctly, I am prepping my post. This hasn’t happened in a VERY LONG time and it’s sort of weird because I’ve gotten used to just typing from the heart but today (and tomorrow when you probably read this) I feel like I have to share a review of my One Direction concert experience.

Now I know that the concert was on March 28th but I really could not let this experience go without recording my thoughts on my little bit of cyber space. You see, I’ve mentioned before that I’m a pop culture junkie but the truth is I really never grew up after I reached 15 (which is over 10 years ago for those keeping score). What I mean is, I’m very into all things which are popular and often I take a lot of flak for that but a few years ago I decided “Screw it! Why do I have to act like a grown up because everyone else wants that? I just want to be me”. Which, of course is a story for another day. Today’s story (with a very long intro) is about how I got to be the 15 year old version of myself when I attended One Direction’s concert.

You see, my cousin camped out for those tickets during her final year of High School so I knew we were going to make the best of the experience and for those keeping score,  this is the second time we’ve fan girled over a pop sensation. However this was a TOTALLY different experience.

A week before One Direction were scheduled to come to South Africa, Zayn Malik took a “break” which actually was him leaving the band which they announced just before they made their way to South Africa’s sunny shores.  I was angry, I’m not going to lie but that is also a story for another day.  The reason I even mentioned his departure is because that meant that our show, was the first official show of the newly adapted One Direction sans Malik. We were anxious ( and slightly heartbroken) to see what would happen to Zayn’s high notes – how were the guys doing. Really. Not the “ we’re happy for him” bull but rather the real away in which they have adapted to life without Zayn.

The hours coming up to the show were insane and honestly I can say that the SA Directioners out did themselves but what I should also add is that the moms of these teens were the most catty set of moms I have ever encountered at a show (and I went to Justin Bieber!). It was like five* four times the boys five times the catty. In retrospect, I would probably be the same for my kids one day.  Other than the moms who were pushy there was a genuine excitement in the air for the boys and the concern for everyone’s well-being was high priority.

The concert itself was ridic. I cannot put into words how ridiculously amazing they were. My few points would have been that Liam (my favourite) really rallied and performed as if nothing had changed and while to the tweens surrounding me that seemed cold, to me was the illustration of professionalism. Niall was probably the one who showed the most hurt during the show. Even when looking back at the numerous pictures and videos I took, Niall never looked at the front row (where I was!) and whenever he looked at thr crowd he looked into the far lights. To me that was because he looked sad so I think he took Zayn’s departure the worst or he hid his feelings the worst…

Louis, who was always my least favourite band member was kind of freaking awesome. He made me eat my words about if someone had to leave why wasn’t it him. It’s not that I hated him he was just my least favourite (you know you have yours) but then he had to the member who had the most incredible one on one moment with me. Pictured below. He is looking directly at me! I have the video of it too but the screaming is just insane and while Harry also looked at me I couldn’t capture the picture because of the insaneness that surrounded me.  Louis was awesome, he interacted with people in the crowd, made fun of those crying. He was definitely reserved but still managed to show his quirkiness which is a trait that has most tweens falling for him.

Lastly the beast that is Harry Styles. People, I cannot express in words how impressed I am with Harry. In photos and interviews he comes across as very mature and serious, cute  a bit quirky but serious. On stage – Harry is insane!! That’s the only appropriate word I can use to explain it. His energy levels were on another level, he also interacted with crowd. He spat water on me (#FrontRowProblems) numerous times and I loved it (#ImNotEvenSorry) . Seriously, walking away from that concert all I thought about was the fact that Harry is probably one of the best young performers out there and he does it without any dance moves.

[Side Note: Harry went out of his way to shake hands with the security personnel who were surrounding the stage #GotToLoveTheBritishChivalry.]

There were moments in the show that felt a little sad that Zayn wasn’t there but the boys didn’t mention it which is probably better because the tears would have been rolling even more than they already were from my surrounding concert goers.

If you recall, a few months ago I went to The Script’s (and Phillip Phillips) concert and I told you it was still so intimate on a large scale this was the opposite. Well, this was massive showmanship, crazy, quirky, fun and sexy. The group delivered vocally, effortlessly and beautifully. Whether you’re a fan or not, if you get a chance go watch them. Adults will make fun of them for being a boy band until you watch them perform, they are beyond brilliant performers and are definitely worth every penny you pay for them.

Who is or was your favourite boy band???

Talk to me;)

2015 The Year of More

Is it wrong to still be talking about our plans for 2015? I mean we're halfway through the first month of the year already but I still wanted to share about what I plan for this year... tacky? Nope, this is my blog so I get to chat about whatever's on my mind and hope you stay around for it!

Today I'm not sharing resolutions, although I have an incomplete list written down in one of my many notepads what I am sharing is the things I want to do more of this year.

Attend more concerts or live shows

Now I'm sort of cheating because I already have my concert tickets to The Script and supporting act Phillip Phillips in February as well as One Direction in March but I also want to go to the One Republic concert later this year and see who else Big Concerts brings to South Africa this year.

I know some people don't like concerts or crowds, I am not that person! I love being live arenas or live sports events, I love feeding off everyone's energy it literally picks my spirit up!

Should I mention this is the second time I'm going to see The Script... I'm not even sorry

Listen to more music that makes me smile

I love music and I love sad love songs but this year I want to increase the happy around me which means I'm going to have to up my happy music. Any suggestions?

Take more pictures for my blog

I intend to do this all the time but then my laptop was giving me some issues a while ago so I had to use my phone for images and they just weren't looking up to scratch. and I really liked the one I shared with you last week. Actually I just want to work more on my blog look as well.

 More movement

I know, cliche, doesn't everyone put this on their list! Towards the end of last year I was really getting into a mode of activities so once the wedding fever with my brother's wedding is done (at the end of this month) then I think I'll be able to get back into the swing of things.

What's something you've been doing but want to do more of this year? This is an open ended list so I may add some more if you guys share some good ideas with me :)

The Songs That Made My 2014!

I've said this a million times (ok, about 100 times) before - music is a very big part of my life and this year has been no different so when I saw that Helene was hosting a link up about the Best Songs of 2014 so of course I wanted to join the party!

The Best Songs Of 2014

Stay With Me - I don't want to lie to you, I have no idea when this song came out I just knew I loved it and Sam Smith and Adele could possibly make the most heartwrenching love album known to mankind.

I would have to say that Stay With Me is the song that will always remind me of this year because it's the one that has been most consistent over this year.

Come Get It Bae - don't hate me but I was actually not a very big fan of Pharrell Williams in the past, I always enjoyed his songs but never felt compelled to buy them until this one. This song made me so happy every single time I heard it on the radio. Hands down my go to happy dance song this year. Have I mentioned I hate the word "bae" but I love this song #SorryNotSorry

Thinking Out Loud - Who are you if you have not included this song on your list? This is ridiculously beautiful and hands down my lyrics of the year! Again, I haven't been a huge fan of Ed Sheeran's before but Oh My Word thing song opened my eyes to his amazingness.

"And I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just the touch of a hand
Well, me—I fall in love with you every single day"

"'Cause honey your soul could never grow old, it's evergreen"

I Lived - I've told you before that One Republic follow me on Twitter (why don't you???) but I actually only had a few of their songs on my phone but literally the first time I heard this song I knew I was going to love it and my instincts were right. I think it's probably because the lyrics are on point once again but also because I've been trying to live my life this way this year.

I know this is my favourites list but I thought it would only be fair to add a few of my least favourite songs:

1. Shake It Off - T.Swift - I know earlier in the year I said I liked it but damn this song got super annoying but not as annoying as ...
2. All About That Bass - Meghan Trainor - I will sing along to this song because it's been played so much it's drummed into my head so badly I want to stab my ears! I loved this song at some stage but it was just overplayed and went from hit to hit me in the head so I don't have to listen to it. Also the fact that all her songs seem to sound the same just really annoyed me.  #RantOver
3. Wiggle - Damn you Jason Derulio I hate this song it's offensive and freaking annoying.

Soooooo, spill it - what's your best of the best of 2014????

2014 MTV Video Music Awards

While I was not intending on posting today I managed to watch the MTV VMAs and had to share some of my thoughts with you. Early disclosure, they are random but that was the point!

The opening was pretty interesting but why was Nicki Minaj holding her top through her collaboration with Jessie J and Ariana Grande? Wardrobe malfunction... !

How ridiculously amazing is JLo's body? This woman is 45 years old and yet she only gets better with age.

I think Britney and Justin did it better.. but well done Katy for the the throwback! I think they just needed to do something more with the look for it to outdo the original moment.

Mrs Kim Kardashian West went for a patterned mini dress but she actually ended up looking really casual in comparison to her sisters.

I'm not loving Taylor Swift's outfit choice, this pattern just wasn't exciting enough and I still don't understand why these celebs keep walking around without pants?? However her reaction to Lourde winning the best Rock Music video was super cute!

My most surprising winner is definitely Fifth Harmony for Artist to Watch. While I liked them during their time on X-Factor I really didn't think they were going to beat 5 Seconds of Summer or Sam Smith but hey, girl power, right?

The most sincere performance goes to Sam Smith.. damn can he sing! I tried really hard to find a good clip of it but was unsuccessful, however if I do I'll put it up at a later stage.

However one of the more sincere moments would be when Miley had her friend, Jesse, a homeless youth accept her award for Video of the Year.

I know the internet was buzzing with Beyonce's performance but I'm not feeling particularly overwhelmed with praise but her daughter was pretty cute!

So, did you watch the show?

Y is for " You" songs (A to Z Challenge)

Its the second last day of the A to Z Challenge, you can see all the other posts here.

Today is some of my YOU songs!

Lucy Pearl - You ~ reminds me of my early teens, I still absolutely love to dance to this song

One Direction - You and I ~ It's a recent song of the latest 1D album but it's really sweet and their newly released video is a calm and sweet video compared to some of the more whacky fun ones they have done for their more upbeat songs.

Chris Brown - With You ~ while I am not a fan of Chris Brown, I love this song.

What's your favourite "You" song?

S is for Say Something (A to Z Challenge)

The first time I heard this song was on America's X Factor and I thought it was haunting and beautiful.
Here is the original:

Don't hate me, but I actually think I like Alex and Sierra's version more...

What are your thoughts? Love or hate this song?

G is for Glee (A to Z Challenge)

Glee -  Great delight, especially from one's own good fortune or another's misfortune

I was watching the episode of Glee the other day "100" where they did a lot of the old favourites done differently. I really enjoyed the episode, which is the first one in this entire season I enjoyed. I think they should have just ended the show with the Glee Club winning Nationals. The delay of ending the show lead to recreating the same characters and milking the current fan favourites dry.

Either way, I'm not planning to complain in this post but rather enjoy some benefits of the show, it really did make a huge difference in a lot of people's lives to feel included or heard and frankly, I'm all for that.

"Happy"

" Defying Gravity"

"Don't Stop Believin"

I'll never be able to hear any version of "Don't Stop Belivein' " and not think of Glee, classic Glee.

Do you watch Glee? Do you think they should have continued with this Season or should they have stopped while they were on top of their game?

PS: Hope these songs add to you having a wonderful Tuesday!!!

A new week is upon us and while I had fun, I'll tell you more about it later in the week but today to start me off, I'm listening to Daughtry's Waiting for Superman.

On to more important matters, what are you using to start your week off?

Have an amazing week, tell me if you have anything special planned?

Music Monday :Grammy Fashion

Hello there! Here we are with a brand spanking new week ahead of us and why not have some fun with the Grammy Fashion?

Growing up, the Grammy's Awards Show was the one award show I would always watch because I sorta love music!

So here we go.

Katy Perry in Valentino - OMW! Love! I am a  bit upset that it didn't photograph as fantastic as it looked on TV.

Paris Hilton -  House of Milano - This dress is stunning. I like that from the front it's covered up sophisticated and then she turns and it's super sexy. Definitely one of the best dressed of the night for me!

Taylor Swift - Gucci - Unfortunately this is another dress that did not photograph as well as I think it looked but even though Taylor is known for her sparkly dresses, I really liked this one especially that she pulled her hair back. It's simple and pretty.

Colbie Caillat - Ezra Santos - This is so dainty and subtly sexy

Austin Mahone - I don't really know him, but I watched him in his red carpet interview with Giuliana and he was so cute!

My favourite couple - Chrissy Teigen and John Legend

While I'm sure I've missed some great dresses but I decided these are my favs. Also, in the spirit of the new week I am not going to post the dresses I didn't like or rather the dirty hair look (cough Sara Barrellies) because I am hoping she is never a repeat offender!

My Music Monday post needs some music, so here is one of the winning songs

Anyway.. hope all of you have an amazing week - January 2014 is almost over!!

2014 According To My iPod

Happy New Year Everyone!! If you didn't see my tweet I just wanted to wish all of you the very best for this year, I can feel great things are going to happen!

I do this thing with my iPod, I keep it on shuffle and the first song I hear for the day will be an indication of what my year turns out to be like and in a weird way, it usually works out.

I realised I hadn't listened to anything for the year so this morning, I thought the first song I play will be my song for the year and then I decided to check the whole year out.I did not plan on my first post for the year being another list this one is a list with a twist. I have so many different genres on my phone from Spanish lessons to Kriss Cross to Adele to Drake and these are the results!

While I realise it is not a science or anything which can be predicted, it was fun so here it goes.

What I should expect for 2014.I was going to include some sort of commentary but once you see the songs you'll understand why I did not.

Song of the year  - The Script "I'm Yours"

January - DJ Kent feat The Arrows " Spin My World Around"

February - Amy Winehouse "Rehab"

March - One Direction " One Thing"

April - P!nk "Family Portrait"

May - P!nk "There You Go"

June - Justin Bieber "Baby"

July - One Direction " I Would"

August - Spice Girls " 2 Become 1"

September - Hillsong "Still"

October - Monica " 'Cross The Room"

November - Pitbull " Don't Stop The Party"

December - Justin Bieber "Never Say Never (Acoustic)"

And if that isn't a random enough - the first song I heard for the year (that I remember) is this one.....

Seems like this is going to be one interesting year!!!!

Side Note: Today is my mom's birthday and she's the bestest in the world! I aspire to more like her everyday!

What do you think of the year ahead according to my iPod? Try it and tell me what may happen to you!

13 Incomplete Blog Posts of 2013

Here is some of my drafts which never quite made the cut....

1.BEING AWESOME

I found this article once and it made me think there is nothing better than being awesome!

2.DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO DUMB YOU DOWN

As I'm writing this post I am aware that it is entirely possible that it will be months or years before I can actually publish it but I feel compelled to document what I'm feeling and I am almost 100% certain that everyone in life will need this advice at some point or another.

I am very well educated. Not just for my age (although I am extremely well educated for my age - 26) but well educated for anyone's age and it has taken me a long time to stop being embaressed by my education. I used to think I don't want people to think I'm showing off or being condescending to them because I am smart but here are my truths (any maybe you can identify with them):

1.  I am intelligent and a nice person
2. I am educated and a nice person
3. I have worked HARD to become as educated as I am
4. Other people will try to pull me down because they may think I want their job/their money/their life but all I want is to be challenged in my career and to grow.
5. There is nothing wrong with wanting to learn more.
6. There is nothing wrong with asking more questions (including those which relate to your career growth).
7. Some people may try to put you in a box in order for you not to grow but God will show the way.

I know this may seem like an extreme or odd post (ok, maybe rant) but you cannot allow other people to dumb you down by giving you minimal work and/or giving you work that you are too qualified to do

So number 8 would be this - there are certain activites which you are too qualified to do and yes you can do them and you should do them BUT those should not be your only activities.

9. People in the workplace (well, people in general) are vindictive. That is an unfortunate truth. I am the kind of person that can change a work environment and be all bright and shiney but the truth is that there will still be people in the department/company that will not like you for those things - which is fine BUT they will pretend to like you which is where the 'vindictiveness' comes in!

3. 7 THINGS THAT ENTERTAIN ME

After my earlier post, I feel compelled to remind you that I am not going to allow myself to emotionally hoard and instead, I wanted to share things that entertain or make me happy

1.My Family and friends

2.TV (including watching Football)Fashion Police and especially reruns of FRIENDS

    3. Solving problems
This is the nerd in my coming out but I think it may equally be the fighter in me as well....

    4. Good Food

    5.Reading blogs
      6. Traveling and meeting people from other places (includes those who are not from Johannesburg)
7.When people talk to themselves in public. My dad is one of these people, in fact I remember, clearly, that once my mom, dad and I were the only ones home and my mom and I were talking in the kitchen and then I heard my dad talking. When I asked her was he talking to us, she said "no he's talking to himself" and if that was not strange enough... picture my dad,

        4. BRAVE,DUMB OR STUPID

This is the title of the post I started when I arrived in Germany for my Eurotrip. But the title is as far as it got....

        5. COINCIDENCES

I met someone a while ago, and then a couple of years later I met this person again - randomly... was it a coincidence? Is there such a thing as a coincidence or is it serendipity? Does Serendipity even exist?

        6. I ALWAYS WANT TO BE HONEST

I always want to be honest. I am to be honest in my day to day life but I also want to be honest here - in my web world so I think it is only fair to share some of my thoughts on a topic which has been playing on my mind A LOT. Well, since my Eurotrip.

        7. THREE THINGS THAT SURPRISED ME THIS WEEK

This is a completely unplanned post but

Today I was told that I am fearless which is funny because it is the one thing I would never call myself.

        8. WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

I feel like posting but just don't know what exactly I want to blog about. So I thought why not introduce a new series about What would you do... I'm not exactly sure where this series will go but I thought why not just go with it, for now..

WHAT WOULD YOU DO if you could spend a day without being questioned by society (or your family.. or whoever you think judges you)

Even as I typed this, I'm not sure where I am going with this train of thought.

When I was younger I used to be a lot more, brash, I suppose so I

        9. THREE THINGS I'VE BEEN THINKING OF

        1. Why are more people not loving the TV series, Betrayal. I am absolutely loving this show and no one else seems to be watching it...

        2.

        10. THINK.. THINKING... THOUGHT
        I am a thinker.
To be more accurate, I am an over thinker! I am

11.MUSIC THERAPY - IS IT JUST THE PINK FLUFFY STUFF?

I love music, all types of music and at all times in the day.
I don't think there's ever been a day in my life when I thought "No more music!"

        12. Coming and going but who are you sending?

Trust is important…but naivety is dangerous."
This quote is courtesy of The Single Woman Blog and deeply resonated with me as soon as I read it. It made me think how often I have been upset by "people betraying me"but then it got me thinking... a person can only hurt you as much as you allow them too. Yes, I've heard this saying a number of times but truly understanding it made me look at life differently.
I have a lot of people in my life that I refer to as "takers" the people who are my friends because I have something that they want whether it be free legal advice, money or just company when they are bored - there are many versions of "takers"and you may be able to recognise some of them in your own life. I think it's important to recognise relationships for what they are and understand that not every person you meet is as genuine as they present themselves to be BUT in the same light there is no need to be suspicious of everyone around you either.
I think it's important to allow yourself to open up to others especially new people because it is important to show your real self as soon as possible otherwise you might end up being the person who is not what you seem.
I am a very lucky individual and have friends in my life who have been a friend for over 20 years. (Just in case you forgot, I am only 26 years old! So 20+ years of friendship is extremely impressive).
I say all this to say…SET BOUNDARIES, with your heart, your time, your LIFE. Not everyone who knocks on the door of your life should be allowed in.
Not everyone has good intentions. This is not to say you should barricade your heart behind a brick wall and never allow anyone in…but you do owe it to yourself to protect yourself.

        13. 3 THINGS - EVERYONE SHOULD DO IN CAPE TOWN

I'm starting this list at three things but truth is i'm certain I will have issues reducing them to 7!
        1. Table Mountain - this is one of the new 7 World wonders as off 2012 and why wouldn't it be? While I lived in Cape Town, our balcony had the BEST view of the mountain, it was the way my mom and I used to know if it was going to be a good day or a bad one. I suggest you visit Table Mountain and if you're up for the activity you should hike it. I did it once and it was exhausting but compeltely gratifying. You should l

SO..... WHICH ONE SHOULD I HAVE ACTUALLY PUBLISHED?
