One Direction - On The Road Again Tour

Good morning lovely people from all around the world! Well technically it’s good afternoon, because I am actually prepping this post on Sunday! Yes, you read me correctly, I am prepping my post. This hasn’t happened in a VERY LONG time and it’s sort of weird because I’ve gotten used to just typing from the heart but today (and tomorrow when you probably read this) I feel like I have to share a review of my One Direction concert experience.

Now I know that the concert was on March 28th but I really could not let this experience go without recording my thoughts on my little bit of cyber space. You see, I’ve mentioned before that I’m a pop culture junkie but the truth is I really never grew up after I reached 15 (which is over 10 years ago for those keeping score). What I mean is, I’m very into all things which are popular and often I take a lot of flak for that but a few years ago I decided “Screw it! Why do I have to act like a grown up because everyone else wants that? I just want to be me”. Which, of course is a story for another day. Today’s story (with a very long intro) is about how I got to be the 15 year old version of myself when I attended One Direction’s concert.

You see, my cousin camped out for those tickets during her final year of High School so I knew we were going to make the best of the experience and for those keeping score,  this is the second time we’ve fan girled over a pop sensation. However this was a TOTALLY different experience.

A week before One Direction were scheduled to come to South Africa, Zayn Malik took a “break” which actually was him leaving the band which they announced just before they made their way to South Africa’s sunny shores.  I was angry, I’m not going to lie but that is also a story for another day.  The reason I even mentioned his departure is because that meant that our show, was the first official show of the newly adapted One Direction sans Malik. We were anxious ( and slightly heartbroken) to see what would happen to Zayn’s high notes – how were the guys doing. Really. Not the “ we’re happy for him” bull but rather the real away in which they have adapted to life without Zayn.

The hours coming up to the show were insane and honestly I can say that the SA Directioners out did themselves but what I should also add is that the moms of these teens were the most catty set of moms I have ever encountered at a show (and I went to Justin Bieber!). It was like five* four times the boys five times the catty. In retrospect, I would probably be the same for my kids one day.  Other than the moms who were pushy there was a genuine excitement in the air for the boys and the concern for everyone’s well-being was high priority.

The concert itself was ridic. I cannot put into words how ridiculously amazing they were. My few points would have been that Liam (my favourite) really rallied and performed as if nothing had changed and while to the tweens surrounding me that seemed cold, to me was the illustration of professionalism. Niall was probably the one who showed the most hurt during the show. Even when looking back at the numerous pictures and videos I took, Niall never looked at the front row (where I was!) and whenever he looked at thr crowd he looked into the far lights. To me that was because he looked sad so I think he took Zayn’s departure the worst or he hid his feelings the worst…

Louis, who was always my least favourite band member was kind of freaking awesome. He made me eat my words about if someone had to leave why wasn’t it him. It’s not that I hated him he was just my least favourite (you know you have yours) but then he had to the member who had the most incredible one on one moment with me. Pictured below. He is looking directly at me! I have the video of it too but the screaming is just insane and while Harry also looked at me I couldn’t capture the picture because of the insaneness that surrounded me.  Louis was awesome, he interacted with people in the crowd, made fun of those crying. He was definitely reserved but still managed to show his quirkiness which is a trait that has most tweens falling for him.

Lastly the beast that is Harry Styles. People, I cannot express in words how impressed I am with Harry. In photos and interviews he comes across as very mature and serious, cute  a bit quirky but serious. On stage – Harry is insane!! That’s the only appropriate word I can use to explain it. His energy levels were on another level, he also interacted with crowd. He spat water on me (#FrontRowProblems) numerous times and I loved it (#ImNotEvenSorry) . Seriously, walking away from that concert all I thought about was the fact that Harry is probably one of the best young performers out there and he does it without any dance moves.

[Side Note: Harry went out of his way to shake hands with the security personnel who were surrounding the stage #GotToLoveTheBritishChivalry.]

There were moments in the show that felt a little sad that Zayn wasn’t there but the boys didn’t mention it which is probably better because the tears would have been rolling even more than they already were from my surrounding concert goers.

If you recall, a few months ago I went to The Script’s (and Phillip Phillips) concert and I told you it was still so intimate on a large scale this was the opposite. Well, this was massive showmanship, crazy, quirky, fun and sexy. The group delivered vocally, effortlessly and beautifully. Whether you’re a fan or not, if you get a chance go watch them. Adults will make fun of them for being a boy band until you watch them perform, they are beyond brilliant performers and are definitely worth every penny you pay for them.

Who is or was your favourite boy band???

Talk to me;)

Life Lately 2015 (1)

I cannot apologize enough for this space being so bare recently and while I know every good blogger should never apologize for having a life outside of their blog I do feel compelled to say I have missed all of you, I have missed writing about what's been going on and I miss reading your comments and blogs.

I just missed this part of my life.

So, last week, before I disappeared for a week I told you I went to the SA Navy Festival, it was not a planned trip but my parents decided last minute with a cheapish ticket to bring me to them. I guess the six weeks since the wedding was too long for them not to see their baby and who am I to deny them the opportunity to spoil their little girl...

Cape Town was magnificent as per usual and I got to spend some quality time with some of my besties which is exactly what I needed. I didn't realise that I was feeling so run down until I got to CT and got to relax...

On Saturday I had the One Direction concert and ladies and gentleman these boys, well men, are ridiculously amazing performers and singers. I cannot explain the amount of respect I have for them! Obviously in light of Zayn leaving the group last week officially the fans were feeling down and the group was sad but everyone rallied and made it one of the most insane concerts I have ever attended. I plan on doing a concert recap post for you but what I will say is that I've never seen that level of love obsession for music artists, and I attended a Michael Jackson concert!

Sunday was the Gerrard v Carragher Liverpool FC Charity match which brought a whole lot of players from the past, present and future together in one game which would have already been special but add in that it was Suarez's first return to Anfield and Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres was coming was incredible. Fernando Torres had returned to Anfield before but as a Chelsea player and I wasn't sure how his reception would be at the game but the fans I think have finally forgiven him. It was a beautiful sight to see him on the field with Gerrard and SUarez but the moments between him and Stevie Gerrard were the ones which made me most emotional .

On Tuesday, yesterday, I moved out of my current place and to be honest I haven't had a moment to even process it. A lot of change is coming and I'm nervous... excited but more than anything I'm bracing myself for whatever God has planned....

What's been going on with you?

Y is for " You" songs (A to Z Challenge)

Its the second last day of the A to Z Challenge, you can see all the other posts here.

Today is some of my YOU songs!

Lucy Pearl - You ~ reminds me of my early teens, I still absolutely love to dance to this song

One Direction - You and I ~ It's a recent song of the latest 1D album but it's really sweet and their newly released video is a calm and sweet video compared to some of the more whacky fun ones they have done for their more upbeat songs.

Chris Brown - With You ~ while I am not a fan of Chris Brown, I love this song.

What's your favourite "You" song?

2014 According To My iPod

Happy New Year Everyone!! If you didn't see my tweet I just wanted to wish all of you the very best for this year, I can feel great things are going to happen!

I do this thing with my iPod, I keep it on shuffle and the first song I hear for the day will be an indication of what my year turns out to be like and in a weird way, it usually works out.

I realised I hadn't listened to anything for the year so this morning, I thought the first song I play will be my song for the year and then I decided to check the whole year out.I did not plan on my first post for the year being another list this one is a list with a twist. I have so many different genres on my phone from Spanish lessons to Kriss Cross to Adele to Drake and these are the results!

While I realise it is not a science or anything which can be predicted, it was fun so here it goes.

What I should expect for 2014.I was going to include some sort of commentary but once you see the songs you'll understand why I did not.

Song of the year  - The Script "I'm Yours"

January - DJ Kent feat The Arrows " Spin My World Around"

February - Amy Winehouse "Rehab"

March - One Direction " One Thing"

April - P!nk "Family Portrait"

May - P!nk "There You Go"

June - Justin Bieber "Baby"

July - One Direction " I Would"

August - Spice Girls " 2 Become 1"

September - Hillsong "Still"

October - Monica " 'Cross The Room"

November - Pitbull " Don't Stop The Party"

December - Justin Bieber "Never Say Never (Acoustic)"

And if that isn't a random enough - the first song I heard for the year (that I remember) is this one.....

Seems like this is going to be one interesting year!!!!

Side Note: Today is my mom's birthday and she's the bestest in the world! I aspire to more like her everyday!

What do you think of the year ahead according to my iPod? Try it and tell me what may happen to you!

13 Hopes for 2014

This is an interesting one because I initially thought I could easily think of 13 things I wanted for myself but it was (no, is) difficult. So I thought, why be selfish and only hope for things which would directly affect me.... anyway... here we go.

1. That I can travel again, hopefully to the States so I can see some of my friends as we are long overdue for a reunion!

2. Cross 14 items of my bucket list. Speaking of which, I am going to put that up soon and by soon, I mean sometime earlier next year ..

3. Improve my readership or more specifically my subscriptions to my blog.

4. To have a blog design which is more in line with my personality. While I like my current design, it could do with some changes.

5. For Liverpool FC to win the Barclays Premiere League. While I know a whole lot of Manchester or any other team's fans are saying "No Way" but despite Liverpool's last two games in which the referees have robbed Liverpool of goals or penalties, I still believe we are in with a chance.

6. Learn to budget and then stick to it.

7. Move into or build a career path for myself. I am an attorney but I am not just an attorney and I need to figure that all out.

8. That Kim Kardashian's love life or child's christening is not the main focus of celebrity news. Because although I do like her, she is cray cray and frankly I think they have milked the limelight for long enough.

9. That Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux get married because I would hate for Brad Pitt and that skank, Angelina Jolie think they have the upper hand. Jen can say whatever she wants about moving on. No one ever wants to see their ex be happier than them.

10. That the petrol price decrease (Highly unlikely)

11. That E-Tolls get taken down (although this is more unlikely than Number 10.)

12. One Direction comes to South Africa! (Yes I just included that in my list)

13. World Peace, is that too much to ask for????

So.... what are your hopes for 2014???
