Red Door Cafe - Review

Hello Blogland! How's everything going on your side of the world? Today I'm sharing a little gem I found in Johannesburg, actually, I didn't find it one of my friends did and it's not really in the central area of Johannesburg but more so in Edenvale.

My friend lives a paleo lifestyle so eating out at times can be a challenge when I suggested that we meet near the airport he found this lovely quaint place.

The Red Door Cafe has both paleo and non paleo friendly dishes but all the dishes are ridiculously delicious. We had a bullet proof coffee. That was my first one and I'll definitely be having a second one soon... They even have great healthy dessert options available. We sat outside but took a peak inside and this place has so much character - I just adore it!

The only thing I will give you a heads up on is that they charge you for hot water and lemon which is unusual but hey, the taste is worth the R2.50!

Are you following any diet regime? Or do you just like quaint places like I do?

Humpday Confessions {Link Up #19}

It's that time of the week! Confessions!!! Also, it happens to be Heritage Day, a public holiday in South Africa which is kind of awesome because I believe that every Wednesday should be a holiday so we can recharge and be refreshed for the rest of the week!

Happy Heritage Day South Africa!

Anyway, of course I'm linking up with Kat today so let's get started

Vodka and Soda
I confess that :

~ People who take pictures of random people or get you to pose for pictures but never post or give you those pictures really freak me out. Why would you want to keep pictures of strangers?
~ I’ve recently been finding guys with beards really sexy which is so odd because I usually hate unnecessary hair.
~ I have changed my shampoo regiment and am battling with the changes but really trying to give this new shampoo a shot.
~ I’ve still been a really bad blogger! I’ve been reading blogs but not as much as I usually do but even though I’ve been reading some I’ve commented on even less!
~ When I link up with Kat I actually type out her link address from memory because my memory is good like that!
~ I just checked my goodreads reading challenge for the year and I'm four books behind! At one stage I was two books ahead so I really need to get reading!
~ Also, I'm eating the last piece of pecan nut fudge I made last week.

What are your confessions?

Pretty Peaceful Paternoster

This last weekend while Cape Town was undergoing a heatwave and I was literally melting away on Sunday we decided to take a drive to Paternoster which is just under two hours away from Cape Town.

I remembered watching a Masterchef South Africa and during Season One they went to Paternoster because the seafood was so fresh and boy there were not lying!

The restaurant they went to in Masterchef was closed for lunch so we tried this restaurant Voorstrandt.  it was so hot that I couldn't east even half of my food which really upset me because the calamari and prawns were as fresh as they described it on the show.

My parents - married for almost 31 years!

My lovely mom!

Delicious calamari and tempura prawns

These cocktails look good but tasted mine ( the one on the left) basically tasted like vodka and well vodka. GROSS!

A panoramic view of the beach

Love this sign

Have you ever been to Paternoster? Don't you just love places like this?

Travel Post : Brussels, Belgium - I (heart) the Grand Palace Market

Brussels was overwhelmingly beautiful and it was the first time I was truly alone on my trip. It was incredible and the time I spent by myself was much needed and allowed me to process the future.

I wish I could explain more about Brussels but it was more of a personal experience than I could probably ever put into words.

However, I did meet some really nice people!!!

I also found Brussels to be complex with the architecture.. some of it was so modern and some of it was so old... Also! The Cathedral was my favourite one of my trip! The pulpit was insane!

The Pulpit

The Cathdral

Tourist versions of the "Belgium Waffle" The proper Belgium waffle is actually just the waffle with icing powder over it and let me tell you it tastes DELICIOUS!

The Grand Palace Market

My Moroccan friend and I at the Mannekin Pis

Do you know the story about the Mannekin Pis? What's your favourite part about travelling?

Foreign Waters

So I'm typing this post from the train in Germany... I'm currently on my way to another part of Germany from Hamburg. The train ride is going to be five hours which is next to nothing considering that I have now been traveling for over 24 hours.

At the airport in Dubai, when I planed on doing additional posts and sorting my life out I ended up meeting a really awesome girl from Morocco! When I get back or when I have time to do a more serious post I'll post about our conversations.  But the thing is as much as it is daunting to travel and then to travel with a very basic plan it was nice to speak to someone who could distract me from sweating the little things.

I'm already thinking of things I should have done differently and its only Day2 of my holiday but I suppose that's one of the things I want to work on during this time... The ability to let go and trust God to take control! I remember this book I had when I was younger it was daily inspirations by Helen Steiner Rice and the quote or inspirational thought that always stuck out for me was simple -

God works in ways that a are wonderous and strange there is nothing in life that God cannot change

Then it linked up with this:

Worrying is like being on a carousel, you keep going around and around but never actually getting anywhere.

I always try to practice this but it's difficult or rather it is trying to let the human side let go and let the spiritual side take charge. Every experience in life changes you whether for the good or the bad but simply put, if you don't change then you will always live with what ifs and I don't know about you, but that is not something I am willing to do.

Are you taking any new chances? Is there anything you're worrying about but not sure how to handle it? What's the worst thing that could happen to you if you take the chance?

And just to ensure there isn't any posts with no pictures ... I just had this ice-cream which I haven't seen in South Africa and its awesome! Have you had it before?
