A Few Confessions

I haven't been around for confessions in a very long time but I miss it and I miss all the ladies' confessions... so here I am, ready to go... let's do this.

I CONFESS...

... I am running super late this morning so I will probably publish this post before checking for typos, I guess I'm sorry seeing that I do belong to the grammar police!

... I still haven't watched  Jurassic Park. I heard it's made tons of money but I have no urge to see it. At all. I didn't really like it when I watched it the first time round but whatevs..

...  I'm kinda sad that all my shows are done. I can't even fathom how GoT will be without a certain person or will that certain person come? ( Trying not to give away spoilers for those that still haven't watched it!) Also Greys?! Seriously what the heck is going on with killing off my favourites.

... I recently shared some big news as to where I now live and this weekend a whole lot of my family is coming and I am super duper excited

What have you got to confess?

Humpday Confessions { Link Up #23 } { #Blogtober14 }

I'm not going to lie, I've got the Bloggers Block - BAD! There's so much swimming around in my head but to actually sit down and type it up had been a challenge. I hate that I've been neglecting this little piece of my life or the web but when the time is right I'll be sharing things with all of you, promise!

Anyway today ofcourse I'm linking up with Kat and Ian for Humpday confessions of "what makes me a nerd"  although while I'm prepping this it seems as if Kat is still on vacation and not hosting the link up :(

Vodka and Soda

* I'd rather stay in and read. While people say it's because I'm getting older I can assure you I was 11 years old and perfectly happy not playing outside if I got to read a new Sweet Valley High.

* I refused to watch the Book Thief until I finished reading the book even though it meant I went alone on a Thursday in the day. I was totally ok with it.

* Stationery gets me excited! See my latest purchases of notebooks.

* I bought the aforementioned books at Typo and I can spend hours in that store.

* No one likes to go to book stores with me because it's not "fun" to browse books stores...

* When I get really excited I do a happy dance!

* I've been spending a lot of time with my cousin and my current happy dance is the running man.

* I make lists of lists, it's ridic. I currently have about 5 or 6 different lists on one page just so I can keep control of my shizzzz

* I just used the word shizzzz which I've never done before but if I did it wouldn't help my cool factor

* I know soccer/football quiet well, so much so that I end up talking most people under the table because they always look at me and think, she's just a girl... Except I'm a girl who likes to study and have knowledge so I have an informed opinion.

I'm sure there are many more reasons why I have "nerd" tendencies but the best part is that when you're in no longer in school all those type of labels don't mean a thing.

Disclaimer: I don't actually believe in the the whole idea of nerds being silly and bullied, I just think the nerds of your school days are the best husbands (or wives) of the rest of your lives *hint hint, nudge nudge* Also, in school, I didn't fall into any particular category and I liked it that way

What's your nerdiest quality?

Also, linking up with Helene and Tay for #Blogtober14 about what are my pet peeves...

I've already shared a few but one more that I've picked up is when I find drinking glasses and there are fingerprints on them .... eeew!

My Favourite Quote & Other Confessions { #Blogtober14 }

I can't believe that I haven't blogged in the last week, to be honest, I haven't even given this blog of mine much of a thought. I've been neglecting my twitter account, hardly visiting my fav blog reads and rarely posting on Instagram. I've been busy peeps! A lot has been going on and while I considered sharing my last week's confessions through some of my snapchats I decided to save that for another day but for now here's some of the drama that's been going on...

* I went onto some site, I don't know which one otherwise I would share it with you so you could avoid it because now my laptop is inundated with pop up ads and basic spam

Source

* I know people complain about their iPhone5S battery lives, I am one of those people but I checked with my service provider as to what I should do about it to check if mine is more severe than others and he said he would have to take my phone in for SIX WEEKS without a replacement!

NOTE: The last two gifs could be used interchangeably for both my scenarios!

* My brother's wedding is in 15 weeks time and I really want to be much smaller healthier by then so today is day one of seriously Healthy Natalie 101 because I've been so bad in recent weeks due to roadtrips and celebrations and family time.

* Lastly, I'm linking up with Helene and Tay for #Blogtober14 and today I'm sharing my favourite quote and it's easily my first choice. I learnt it when I was about nine years old and it always stuck because I loved the idea of love at first sight but as I've grown older I think your smile really shows what kind of person you are and people should know how loveable you can be.

Also, I'm linking up with my girl, Kat for Humpday confessions

A Letter To Myself In 10 Years Time { #Blogtober14}

Dear Natalie

Congrats on finally realizing you didn't have to plan your entire life for it to be better than you could ever imagine. I knew you would be able to combine your different passions and make all your business ventures a success. Confectioner. Lawyer. Sports Management Guru and best of all, Published Author. When you reflect on the last 20 years, I hope you will remember how people who loved you and supported you despite not understanding your vision spurred you on.
You're a mother now of a few kids and who knows how many more but don't feel bad that you waited to have children, that you waited to marry your soul mate because as you know, the wait was so worth it!
Uptothemoon is old now but don't forget to visit her, she still loves you more than anyone else.
Your younger years were your building years and there's still some work to do but I think you should be happy that you're crossed off so many more countries off your bucket list.

Remember, although you have lost people over the last 10 years, time heals all wounds but your love for them will remain in your heart forever, cherish them.

Just like Crisitna told Meredith...

Yours sincerely,
Your Future Self

PS: I hope you've continued to work on not being so OCD!

PPS: Your 37 year old body rivals JLo in her 40s and that's a huge compliment!

If I Won The Lottery I'd... {#Blogtober14}

This is the kind of thing which highly unlikely to happen for one simple reason, I don't play the lottery. I've just never been able to get into risking my money, that being said, it's fun to think of things I would do if I won!

1. Pay off all my debt, it's not that much but I hate any sort of debt

2. Purchase a house, maybe two. One in Johannesburg and one in Cape Town. Property in Cape Town is really expensive so I would definitely need the lottery money to help me out.

3. Invest in a cause like Make A Wish or Operation Smile

4.Fund my wannabe Sports/Law firm

5. I saw an article about 1000+ coffees and I love the idea of being able to have coffee with all my Facebook friends. It really got me thinking, if we're friends on Facebook, whether we met while waiting for our next flight in Dubai or we met at a bar five years ago or (my favourite) we were on a Contiki trip in London and Paris together - if we could not sit down to have a coffee (or more) together we shouldn't be friends in real life or facebook. I am absolutely in love with this idea and you shouldn't be surprised if I actually take this up sometime in the future. It would cost a shitload of money because I have a lot of friends in South Africa but many more around the world starting in Kenya to Morocco to Kansas to Rio De Janeiro to Granada to the South of France.. you get the idea right? There are all corners of the earth crawling with friends I've made over my 27 years and I would love to see them again.
 I would take my family with me to some of the places because we haven't traveled together overseas and I think every family should do that and I would go watch soccer matches everywhere I went.

So who would you visit just to have coffee with, anywhere in the world?

Today I'm linking up with Helene and Taylor for #Blogtober14 and with Kathy for confessions!

Humpday Confessions {Link Up #19}

It's that time of the week! Confessions!!! Also, it happens to be Heritage Day, a public holiday in South Africa which is kind of awesome because I believe that every Wednesday should be a holiday so we can recharge and be refreshed for the rest of the week!

Happy Heritage Day South Africa!

Anyway, of course I'm linking up with Kat today so let's get started

Vodka and Soda
I confess that :

~ People who take pictures of random people or get you to pose for pictures but never post or give you those pictures really freak me out. Why would you want to keep pictures of strangers?
~ I’ve recently been finding guys with beards really sexy which is so odd because I usually hate unnecessary hair.
~ I have changed my shampoo regiment and am battling with the changes but really trying to give this new shampoo a shot.
~ I’ve still been a really bad blogger! I’ve been reading blogs but not as much as I usually do but even though I’ve been reading some I’ve commented on even less!
~ When I link up with Kat I actually type out her link address from memory because my memory is good like that!
~ I just checked my goodreads reading challenge for the year and I'm four books behind! At one stage I was two books ahead so I really need to get reading!
~ Also, I'm eating the last piece of pecan nut fudge I made last week.

What are your confessions?

Oscar Is A Murderer {Link Up #18}

Oscar Pistorius was found not guilty of murder. Now whether you’re a proud South African or a hill billy who checks in with the internet every now and then, you have probably heard of the Paralympic winner who was on trial for murdering his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine’s Day in 2013. Well, if you haven’t heard of any of this before that’s basically the story.

Oscar shot and killed Reeva who he had been dating for less than six months. The story goes something like this, Reeva was staying over at Oscar’s place, in the middle of the night he gets up (she’s awake) he goes to bring the fans in (or something like that) she quietly goes off to the bathroom to pee. He hears a noise, grabs his gun approaches the door, whispering, loudly, for her to call the police but never checking that she’s actually ok. He approaches the bathroom door shouting at them to “Get the F*&$ out” (never mentioning that he’s going to shoot) and then when he doesn’t hear a response, he shoots four times. Some time passes and he realises Reeva could have been the one in the bathroom and then he goes and puts his legs on and proceeds to try breaking down the door by all means necessary, including but not limited to the use of his cricket bat. He eventually breaks the door down and find it was in fact Reeva who he had shot.

He calls for help, people arrive, he’s arrested, he’s crying (which becomes a regular thing) he says he thought she was a burglar the State says he intended to murder her.

That’s the facts folks, well slightly hairy facts but for the main part that is what happened.

So my confession today, because it is Wednesday and I am linking up with Kat and Ian, is that Judge Masipa got it wrong. While I respect her, she gave a full explanation as to what dolus eventualis is (if A intends to kill B but kills C instead) he is still guilty of intending to kill. Oscar clearly intended to kill the “intruder” behind the door if we believe he didn’t actually want to kill his girlfriend.  She admitted in her judgment that Oscar was a bad witness, he lies and yet she trusted his version.

The State’s job was to prove that Oscar intended to kill. While they may have not had enough evidence at their disposal to prove Reeva was the intended kill, despite a number of inconsistencies in Oscar’s evidence, they did prove he intended to kill.

However, Judge Masipa did find him guilty of culpable homicide (manslaughter) which is the negligent killing of a human being. He will be sentenced in October.

I could write pages and pages about my opinion of the judgment but I won’t because everyone has an opinion and this way, when I catch up with my lawyer friends they won’t know my full on opinion.

Did you know anything about this trial? Do you think he is guilty of murder?

Current Confessions {Link Up #17}

Vodka and Soda

I am being such a lazy blogger today because I've been meaning to do a "currently" post but I also wanted to do confessions with Kat so I just combined them #SorryNotSorry

* Living
After another two weeks in Johannesburg, I'm finally back in Cape Town. I've missed my home but spending time in Johannesburg was good and I got to attend my reunion

* Missing
My niece, Bri. I can't believe how big she is getting!

*Wishing
My cousin who's writing her prelim exams for High School good luck also, she's planning her matric dance(senior prom) in the middle of it all.

* Eating
Sushi!!!! I love that the weather is getting warmer so sushi becomes my go to meal.

*Feeling
HOT! The weather has been getting warmer but damn I forgot how hot it can get and how easily I can get sunburnt.

*Reading
Since Forever Ago, I'm pushing through because I think my next book is going to be the GoT books.
Also I have not been reading blogs but now that I'm back home I should be able to catch up.... #NoPromises!

*Listening
To the new One Direction song and these guys are so sweet they gave a free download for Fireproof! Love!!

*Watching

School Confessions {Link Up #16}

Well look who decided to show up for class today? Ok, I know lame joke but seriously, although I posted on Monday about being all excited for Spring I have to admit I haven't  read more than five blog posts this week. So once I'm done drafting this post I'll be hopping around to clear my bloglovin feed.

Tomorrow (although really it's in two days time because I'm being a good blogger and typing this on Tuesday evening) is my 10 year High School Reunion. Wow. Even though I have RSVP'd and made my way to Johannesburg to make sure I actually attend the reunion it still hasn't completely sunk in. While I'm sure, or at least I'm hoping my reunion is so much fun that I get a whole blog post out of it that I will get to share with all of you I thought I might as well share some of my school confessions so I can also link up with Kat and Ian!

Vodka and Soda

School confessions... here we go:

# I attended three Primary Schools (that's Grade 1 to Grade 7) but only attended one High School (Grade 8 to Grade 12)

# I played netball in Primary School but switched to hockey in High School

# I recently had the opportunity to take one of my teachers from High School out for coffee and I can honestly say it was awesome. This was is a woman who is so brave and inspiring and it shocked me to realise how much she really knew me. I know we were close while I was her student but I didn't realise how much our relationship actually meant to me or her.

# The same teacher I've mentioned above told me I should leave law and become a teacher, I thought that was such an incredible compliment because she can see me as a person who is capable of giving back.

# I had my first kiss in Grade 1... what was I thinking?!

# I was young for my year so when I was supposed to go to Grade 1 after primary school, they didn't want to let me in because I hadn't learnt to tie my shoelaces yet. In my defense, I never needed too because my daddy always did it.... #OnceADaddysGirlAlwaysADaddysGirl

# By the time I got to Grade 12 my group of friends were so vast that even thinking of the reunion I can't believe how many friends I will see again.

# There are some people's names on the reunion list that I don't recognise??? #AwkwardIntro

So, would you attend your school reunion or once you're done with school, you're done???

TV Confessions {Link Up #15}

I wanted to blog yesterday all about the Emmys but after my MTV VMA post I figured it would be too much for my lovely readers to inundate them with more awards show views plus, the Emmys were surprisingly boring and yes, I'm talking about the red carpet however, I love TV. I've said it many times before but I'll say it again, TV is a big part of my life.

Here are some of my TV confessions also, be forewarned if you haven't caught up on all these shows.

1. Greys Anatomy
When Lexie was killed off the show, I really didn't know she was leaving so I watched it full on crying and in shock.

2. Game of Thrones
While this is a show where ridiculously unexpected things happen every so often episode my most shocking episode was the Red Wedding.

This was so shocking you can actually watch people's reactions to watching this scene.

3. The Good Wife
This is actually the episode that triggered this post. How did I not know that they were killing Will off???

I am so upset about this because Will was my favourite character on the show and the way he was in love with Alicia was so special.

4. Game of Thrones (again)

This time it's the Purple Wedding. I spent so much time watching this show wishing they would just kill Joffrey off and when it happened my reaction was somewhat like this...

5. Scandal (The Fixer)
I'm going to be honest, I thought David would have been killed off but alas, it was James who had to go...

6. Chicago PD
I only started watching it because I'm a Sophia Bush fan but now I'm seriously into it! Plus her partner is super hot, hopefully they hook up soon...

7. Drop Dead Diva
It's so silly but I can't stop watching it!

8. Girls
I cringe almost every episode and yet I am more hooked then ever before.

9. Reruns, I will NEVER get tired of rewatching Sister Sister / Half and Half / 7th Heaven / Soul Food / One Tree Hill / Sex and the City / Friends or the Nanny. There are loads more but you get the idea...

What's the one show you never get tired of watching?

Of course I'm linking up with Kathy for our weekly purge confession session

The Liebster Award aka Confessions about Me ( Link Up #14}

Hi Everybody,I'm a bit very late today but here it goes...

I was nominated for two Liebster Awards in one week and I’ve decided to combine the two nominations so I wouldn’t bore you with too many facts about me.

Secondly, this is not my first Liebster Award/Nomination so you can click here to check my previous one out.
Why don’t we get started?

11 Facts about me:
  1.   I’m an Aquarian.
  2.   My birth date is the 21st of January and when I was younger all the magazines I used to read would say that Capricorn ended on the 21st and Aquarius started on the 21st so my family used to say that was the reason for my multiple mood swings.
  3.   I don’t even really believe in Horoscopes, do you?
  4.   My mother always calls me "Natalie" she never uses a nickname or pet name. Never. In TWENTY SEVEN years!
  5.   I haven’t actually figured out this blogging thing even though I’ve been doing it for more than a year already. While my readership has steadily increased my actual followers have been much slower. Suggestions anyone?
  6.   I’ve been to a male strip club, it was weird and I don’t plan on going again unless it’s for an occasion.
  7.   If I could, I would visit Ireland every time I went on holiday.
  8.   I travelled through parts of Europe on my own last year and I wasn’t even worried (unlike my dad)
  9.   I’m a lists kinda girl. I always write out lists when I’m feeling overwhelmed so I can take charge of the situation.
  10.     I unfollowed a few of the “big names” in the blogging world while I  liked the ladies for the most part, I found at times I was marking their posts as read more often than actually reading them.
   11.      Once when walking through an airport, my jeans fell off me. Thankfully it was the middle of winter in Europe so I had a whole additional layer of black thermals.

That’s for me to know:

Katie’s Questions:

//what is your favorite movie, and why?

Dirty Dancing, I never get bored of watching it. The soundtrack is great and I like that it was released the same year I was born…

//if you could pick one thing to do for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Travel around the world lecturing about law and the importance of travel.

//describe your best friend.

This one is difficult because I have a few but the qualities that they all share is that they are all independent woman who are well educated, witty and protective of my heart. They are non-judgmental and all share an appreciation for travel and books the way I do.

//comfort or style?

Comfort, while I don’t wlk around in crocs for comfort I don’t wear ridiculous shoes just because they’re in.

//if we were to go out drinking together (in a bar just hanging out), what do you think we would drink and talk about?

We would probably be drinking a sweet cocktail if I get to choose and we’d be talking about our careers, new travel plans or reminiscing on old ones and well, boys of course!

//have you ever done anything illegal? don't be confessing your murders or anything like that to me, but like if you stole your mom's car before or smoked weed. something like that.

Not that I can think of, I’ve never taken any drug in any form and I haven’t stolen anything but I guess I did drive while being over the legal limit when I was 18, it was a close drive but I’ve never done that again.

//what's your favorite song? why? does it bring back a special memory or do you just love the beat?

My all time favourite song is Debrorah Cox – Nobody’s Suppose To Be Here the song was released at a very transitional time in my life plus I love the lyrics.

//if you could swap genders with the opposite sex for one day, what would you do?

I would have no idea what to do with myself, there is nothing that men do that I ave any desire in doing.. boring I know.

//would you rather use sandpaper for toilet paper or hot sauce for eyedrops? yes, i love the would you rather game.

LMFAO… sandpaper, no hot sauce ok, sandpaper.

//what decade do you really think that you should have been raised in? explanations are necessary.

I jump between the early 1900s and the 1950s. I love chivalry and being treated like a lady and having men actually do the pursing but then the problem I have is, what about woman’s rights were and I’m grateful I wasn’t born then.

//am i the only person that actually really likes nickelback, or do you too?

I like nickleback, well, their music, I’m not necessarily a fan of the band members.

Doneida’s Questions:

**Whats your favorite TV Show?  Tell me about which character you most relate to!

There’s a few but I think I’m going to go with One Tree Hill. I am a cross between Peyton and Hayley. Hayley for the good girl image but Peyton for her feelings and they way she relates to music for comfort or clarification.

**If you could have dinner with 3 deceased people, who would it be and why?

Michael Jackson, I think he was a bit crazy but clearly he was an intelligent man with a lot to say.
Nelson Mandela, I find it fascinating how he was able to be so forgiving after all that he lost during the apartheid and I would want to know what he really felt about how South Africa is 20 years post apartheid.
My grandfather on my dad’s side of the family. I would just want more time with him plus I think he would be able to lighten the mood after Nelson Mandela said that SA is not what he hoped for and when MJ realised that no plastic surgery was going to make him white on the inside.

**Whats the last thing you do at night?

Recently, I’ve been falling off to sleep watching Orange Is The New Black but usually check my phone.

**Do you have any pets??

I have a horse,Uptothemoon but she’s a retired racehorse and while my dad has told me repeatedly she’s not a pet, I love her as if she is one!

**I love Big Brother, especially the Evictions. If you could nominate one celebrity for “Eviction” from popularity, who would it be, and why?

Good question… umm it’s a toss up between Lady Gaga and Rhianna. I just don’t understand what the obsession is with these ladies. While I respect it and their huge followings, they really don’t add much to my life. I hate their dress sense or lack there of oh and could they take Kanye with them???

**Who is your Favorite Singer? Song?

Mariah Carey – Whenever You Call.

**If a celebrity were to play you in a Lifetime movie, who would you want it to be?

My little knowledge of indian actresses is a problem right now but maybe Mindy or Frida Pinto. Mindy would have my personality down but I don’t thin we look anything a like. Personality wise, I would opt for Zooey Deschanel.

**What’s your real life job?

I’m an attorney.

**What is the best gift that you have given? Why did you choose to give that specifically?

For my bbf’s 30th birthday I gave her a cd with 60 songs. 30 songs from each year of her life and another 30 that either mean something in our friendship or relate to a specific moment. Plus I included cake pop set because he has a passion for baking, a puzzle of Tower Bridge because she loves difficult puzzles and Tower Bridge because I wanted it to be something that she connected too and we had been to Tower Bridge together and I bought her something else but I’ve completely blanked on it. It wasn’t necessarily the best gift but one I remember well for the reasons I gave each thing.

**Where is your favorite place to visit?

**What is your favorite phone app, and why?

I really make use of Period Diary. I am so forgetful and I always forget to put stuf in my phone so I use this app to help me out also flymango.com because I’m always looking for flights between Johannesburg and Cape Town!

Now, I nominate the following ladies:

Emily - The Rant

Tracie - Tracie Everyday

Shelley - Oh, Shells Bells

Here are your questions (and don’t forget to let me know once you’ve done your post so I can check it out)

  1.   Who’s your favourite blogger and why?
  2.   What’s your favourite post you’ve ever written, share the link?
  3.   Kardashians : Love or Hate?
  4.   Would you be able to recognise Prince Harry or a fake knock off on a TV show?
  5.   What’s your favourite book and why?
  6.   Biggest Pet Peeve?
  7.   Who do you think could be your best friend if only you two actually met?
  8.   Dream holiday destination?
  9.   You can have dinner with any four celebrities, who’s invited?
  10.                 Why did you start blogging, are the reasons still the same?
  11.                What’s your most played song on your iPod/iPhone?

Also considering how I have had to share so much with all of you today, I’m filing this under Humpday Confessions with Kathy!
