Humpday Confessions {Link Up #6}

Hello midweek blues! I'm just kidding, Wednesdays are fast becoming my favouirte day because I get to purge share my latest confessions with Kathy .

I confess

~ Spain and England were eliminated from the World Cup and I was am gutted! I honestly cannot imagine having to watch a Football tournament without Steven Gerrard but realistically he's aging and frankly, I would be willing to swap my age with his so he can keep playing. (Clearly I love this man more than a sane person should)

~ I still cannot believe that Luis Suarez bite another player! I mean, I know people love to hate him but seriously, how can such a talented footballer an adult not realise that it is WRONG to bite anyone else... wasn't he taught that in nursery school?

~ I checked out an ex's new girlfriend's page and I found myself thinking, she's awesome, we should be friends. She quoted one of my favourite friendship quotes so I instantly like her..

~ somehow my comments section on my blog changed to google plus comments and I don't know how that happened or how to change it to a more user friendly format (I'm willing to take suggestions here?!)

~ during last week's link up, I visited all 66 blogs which linked up and I think I commented on about 62/3 of them, I'm sorry to the three of four ladies I didn't comment on but I really didn't want to just comment with "great post" which a) may have been a lie or b) there wasn't much I could say and I don't like commenting for the sake of commenting oh and there was one blog I couldn't get onto because I didn't have permission and I was thinking - "Why would you join a link up and block your blog?"

~ I really enjoyed a LOT of the blogs I read last week so I am super excited to read everyone's posts today. Is that really a confession ? I don't think so ... but I do confess there were a few blogs I came across whether part of the link up or from clicking onto a different page and I was left thinking - there really is no rules for blogging. Apparently people forget their language skills or grammar skills or that they are attempting to speak to English readers?

~ my last confession is when I was younger and "in love" or "in like" I often thought that I would always love that person or have a special place in my heart for them but the truth is, now, I would maybe see them or hear from them and think " I hope they are happy"  but the truth is I sometimes forget some of them even existed how deeply I felt for them. At that time and perhaps for a long while after the relationship ended it would hurt but now I can say I don't harbour any feelings for anyone and that actually feels kinda great!

That's it for today folks, what are you confessing?

The Most Romantic Declarations of Love {TV Series}

Well, hello!!

It feels like I haven't been around here for a while although this post has been a draft for several days and actually finishing it off has taken more time then I thought it would... it's just been one of those weeks. Wish I could share it with all of you but firstly some of you wouldn't care (no judgment, here) and secondly there is stuff I actually prefer to keep off my blog. Anyway, back to what this is about -

This post was prompted by this article I found on Twitter and let's be honest it is spot on. Shonda Rhimes sure knows what she's doing when it comes to writing love speeches but a few of my favourite love scenes/declarations were not included because Shonda didn't write them so here we go, some of my favourite scenes, tell me if I missed anything?

Setting the tone but it didn't make my top 10

Cristina never heard possibly the best vows ever written.

10.  When Meredith almost died (for the first time)

Meredith knew she was going to have a bad day and boy did she ever. Derek was doing the honourable thing by staying with his wife, Addison, even though he was still in love with Mer. When she almost died because she put her hand on a bomb (not a good idea) but in this scene she explains that she was going to die and she couldn't remember the simplest sweetest moment between her and Derek, what was their last kiss. The fact that he does, in such sweet detail makes the moment so beautiful.

9. "Watch me choose you"

I watched this on tender hooks, Fitz said he'll choose Liv and I didn't expect him to wait with her. It's not so much the chemistry in this scene as opposed to how much it meant.

8. Kate kisses Sawyer

This is an old one but this was an incredibly anticipated moment! Kate sent the first two seasons fighting the obvious chemistry between her and Saywer. I remember literally sighing when I watched it the first time.

7.  MerDer Proposal

While this may surprise the Greys fans out there that it features so late, you can only imagine how many I had to push off the list for this to make it on here. Even though we knew it was coming, Derek took the proposal that we all hoped for and made it perfect! Shonda outdid herself with the most beautiful love story! It's medical, collaborative and one of a kind, which is what their love is.

6. Burke's love for Cristina was consuming

While it doesn't seem like the deepest moment, we all knew that Isaiah Washington was being written off the show due to his homophobic rants at T.R.Knight but the truth is the Preston Burke loved Crisitina Yang. He saw her flaws, he saw her potential and he loved her. When the reports came through that he would be returning to Greys, I was excited. I always felt that Burke and Yang's relationship was never completely finished and frankly, I'm just not a fan of Owen/Cristina. Even if I was, this was beautifully said!

5. Elena isn't sorry

Elena finally has clarity, she doesn't feel obligated in any way to Stefan. She sees that she wasn't being tricked into her feelings for Damon, it's real, she's in love and she's not sorry. Best TVD scene ever!

4. It's you

I was completely obsessed with this show and this couple. I watched for seasons while Lucas kept making the wrong choices. It was difficult but I loved that they always had a connection and finalllllllllllllly Luke woke up and saw it for himself. It wasn't a long speech but it was one of my favourite TV declarations, ever!

3."I'm nothing and you're everything"

Another stellar scene, President Grant sure knows how to use his words well.

2. Meredith lays it on the line and says the one thing no woman ever wants to have "Pick Me"

I really battled to choose between this one and my number 1 pick but the truth is for Mer and Derek, this was a pivotal moment. This was the scene where they went from being a couple who was dating to being the greatest love story ever to come out of Greys Anatomy. Meredith put her heart (and PRIDE) on the line when she begged Derek to choose her. Instead of it being seen as pathetic and needy, it was heartbreaking, brave and true.

1. "You own me!"

THIS is my best love declaration scene ever! Both of them stating how much they loved one another but neither conceding that the other person could possible love them more. It;s beautiful and well written and left me in tears.

That's it folks! I had a number of other moments to include but couldn't bare to push any of these out of this list.. but please let me know what you would have added in your list?

Have an awesome weekend!

While we weren't watching

You know that feeling of missing a couple of episodes of your favouite TV show and when you finally get to watch it so much has changed. Even though you've managed to read the updates online and heard all about it from your friends who are also faithful about watching the show but when you finally switch the TV on.. hear the familiar TV tune you soon realise so much has changed.

That's how I feel about a certain relationship(s) in my life.

I mean, I know the person (we'll work with singular because it's easier) - well and yet their reactions are so different to what I expect or how I have come to know.

I almost feel as if I never knew the person or watched the show and just can't seem to get back into it.

I think it's hard to understand because I don't think I am the one who has changed in the relationship therefore I find myself questioning at what stage did this happen? Did I do something wrong to this person? Was this unavoidable? Was my affinity to protect them - which was necessary - the way I lost them?

Clearly there's a lot going on in my head as always but while I deal with it let me go back to watching something that's constant and predictable like re-runs of One Tree Hill knowing that Lucas will always go back to Peyton or with the Bold and the Beautiful where Brooke and Taylor will always passively hate one another because despite the fact that it's predictable at the very least, I can take comfort in the fact that, that hasn't changed while I turned away for the TV...

Have a terrific Tuesday and thanks for reading my random thoughts.

13 Movies/Series of 2013

If you spend some time around here, you would know I LOVE my TV shows or movies so I thought I'd share some of my favourite shows or movies from this year (in no particular order). Please feel free to share yours with me?

1. Pretty Little Liars
While I love PLL and it seems that many other bloggers enjoy it, I'm yet to meet any of my fellow South Africans who are watching this show. Nevertheless, I have become more and more engrossed in this show. I love that there are continuous twists and turns and I still haven't figured it out.

2. The Vampire Diaries
Season four ended and I was jumping around for joy! I can't wait to see what develops and I love Ian Somerhalder so much more...

3. The Great Gatsby
Leo Dicaprio made this movie for me - my favourite scene is still the moment Gatsby sees Daisy and I think it's that moment that that ensure this movie makes this list.

4. The Life of Pi
This was a movie which, months later, I still haven't completely figured out. This is also the movie I watched on my birthday so I'll definitely remember it.

5. Fast and the Furious 6

I wish this movie was in 3D - I loved it and I am so sad that Paul Walker passed away because the series will not be the same without him.

6. Revenge
Who doesn't love Revenge? This show is smart and ruthless and yet I still find myself supporting Emily!!!

7. Betrayal

Love this show but I can't explain why!

8. Catching Fire
I made it no secret that I loved this movie. The entire series is completely different to my usual book types but after the first movie I wasn't sure I could enjoy the movie adaptations of the book but the truth is I really enjoyed this movie and I'm excited for next year's installment.

9. Masterchef Australia

While I watched Masterchef South Africa, I definitely have enjoyed the Australian version more. I think it's because there are so many more episodes and you get to really know the contestants.
I also love the idea of people taking a leap of faith into something they feel passionate about and leaving their jobs or families to see if their passion is something true. It inspires me.

10. Greys Anatomy

SPOLIER ALERT - I know there are some people who are still catching up on Greys but Lexie's death was so sad - I watched it again the other day and I was sobbing all over again. While the dynamics of the characters have changed, it's definitely still a favourite for me.

11. Temptations : Confessions of a Marriage Councillor

I did a whole post on this movie - a good movie.

12. Suits

While I know this is not what being a lawyer is like, it's still great entertainment.

13. The Bachelor / Bachelorette

I am a hopeless romantic and I've enjoyed the choices so far although some couples are not together anymore, watching them fall in love was still fun. Plus, some of them are together and that's amazing

Sadly there are shows or movies which didn't make the list most noticeably Newsroom and the Good Wife!

Did I leave your favourite off my list?
