Confessions of a Football Loving Girl {Link Up #8}

Vodka and Soda

Good morning everybody!!!

Can't believe it's Wednesday already and this week I decided to theme my humpday confessions with Kathy because, I didn't have enough interesting confessions to share I wanted too.

I've made it no secret that I love watching soccer or football (whatever you want to call it) but I'm not sure I've told you why...so let's get into it.

I confess :
* my dad started a soccer team when I was four years old and that's where I was surrounded by soccer games and training and men with sons

* I was mostly the only girl with my mom and the other footballer's wives

* This team went on for almost twenty years and through the years the friends I made along the way made different reactions

age 4 :

age 12:

age 18:

* Guys always say they want a girl who appreciates soccer but then we go on a date and I know more and they look at me like this...

* A couple of years ago, a friend and I walked into a store after a big championship game had been on the night before and one of the coaches had lost it.

The guys in the store started talking loud about what happened but then they were contradicting one another so I very easily told them what happened and they all look embarrassed and well, didn't say much more to us..

So basically, every time I thought my knowledge would enhance a conversation with a guy it actually highlights their lack of knowledge and that's never comfortable.

*Despite the above confession, I still love to watch the game. My teams were eliminated very early in the tournament but I have continued to watch every game including Brazil's historic loss to Germany.

What are you confessing this week???

haha love it! thats so true though, guys hate to be proven wrong. my husband loves soccer and he's always correcting people. i dont pretend to love it, though i do enjoy it more than tennis!

I just start talking about hockey and people get confused because I generally loathe all things sports. When I go to the gym and all 6 TVs are on sports channels I get ragey.

I always know more about football than the boys as well and basketball for that matter haha

i'm only good with geek talk and when i correct men about gadgets or technology or whatever, they get really offended. what? a girl can't be interested in technology?

thanks for linking up!

i like to theme my confessions as well. dont know why, it just feels right. I can't believe that game yesterday! Unbelievable!! I love that you know so much about football. I think you could definitely use that as a litmus test for guys. if they are insecure about you knowing more than they do, they are probably an insecure person overall. if they think its awesome you know so much, then they are probably awesome overall too ;)

HA! Loves your gifs!! And guys are so dumb about their sports. They always think they know EVERYTHING and when you call them out on their nonsense with facts, they look at you sideways!

Those gifs are hilarious! I was thinking about signing my son up for soccer next year since I missed sign ups this year, boo.

I was wondering where your love and knowledge of soccer came from Nat! I think it's awesome. Don't apologize for your knowledge of the game. Guys can get intimidated, but a strong one will respect you for it.

Guys are the worst when you know more about a sport than them!

Those GIFS are perfect for the age differences! LOL!

Guys certainly hate to be proven wrong. They can dish it but they can't take it!

Does it just drive you nuts that everyone becomes a super fan during the World Cup?!

So true that guys say they like when girls know sports… until you know more. Silly boys.

My teams got eliminated early on too! But it is still really fun to watch no matter who is playing. So true about boys- better not know more than them!

A girl after my own heart. Love me some futbol!! And I love when I get to share my knowledge of a sport I love so much. And that Germany/Brazil game, good lord embarrassing. Germany is one of my teams so of course I was eating it up but after 4 goals I was seriously uncomfortable. Ha!

Is it bad that when I read the title I was like, ugh American football. But I perked right on up when I saw you were talking about REAL football aka SOCCER. Girl after my own heart.

I absolutely LOVE schooling people about the sport. Just because your little Jimmy plays doesn't mean you know what you're talking about, boo boo. Oh, and I love the people who like to talk crap about my team in the World Cup (Brazil), but don't realize we can still compete for 3rd place. Yeah, YOUR team went home, mine still plays on Saturday. Or the people that only come out when the World Cup is on and suddenly think they follow the sport. I call them "ESPN" because the only analysis they can complete is repeating what the ESPN reporters say.

LOL! Guys hate when girls know more than they do, especially when it comes to "guy" stuff.

Guys are such babies when it comes to women knowing more about "manly" things than they do. Their egos bruise so easily.

Honestly, I wish I knew more about sports, but your point about hating when you know more than they do is probably SO true. Guys can be so ridiculous! (Also, not sure why, but all three of my serious boyfriends all played soccer growing up, so I must love soccer too?! haha)
