I wanted to blog yesterday all about the Emmys but after my MTV VMA post I figured it would be too much for my lovely readers to inundate them with more awards show views plus, the Emmys were surprisingly boring and yes, I'm talking about the red carpet however, I love TV. I've said it many times before but I'll say it again, TV is a big part of my life.
Here are some of my TV confessions also, be forewarned if you haven't caught up on all these shows. 1. Greys Anatomy When Lexie was killed off the show, I really didn't know she was leaving so I watched it full on crying and in shock.
2. Game of Thrones
While this is a show where ridiculously unexpected things happen every so often episode my most shocking episode was the Red Wedding.
This was so shocking you can actually watch people's reactions to watching this scene. 3. The Good Wife This is actually the episode that triggered this post. How did I not know that they were killing Will off???
I am so upset about this because Will was my favourite character on the show and the way he was in love with Alicia was so special. 4. Game of Thrones (again) This time it's the Purple Wedding. I spent so much time watching this show wishing they would just kill Joffrey off and when it happened my reaction was somewhat like this...
5. Scandal (The Fixer) I'm going to be honest, I thought David would have been killed off but alas, it was James who had to go...
6. Chicago PD I only started watching it because I'm a Sophia Bush fan but now I'm seriously into it! Plus her partner is super hot, hopefully they hook up soon...
8. Girls I cringe almost every episode and yet I am more hooked then ever before.
9. Reruns, I will NEVER get tired of rewatching Sister Sister / Half and Half / 7th Heaven / Soul Food / One Tree Hill / Sex and the City / Friends or the Nanny. There are loads more but you get the idea... What's the one show you never get tired of watching? Of course I'm linking up with Kathy for our weekly purge confession session
While I was not intending on posting today I managed to watch the MTV VMAs and had to share some of my thoughts with you. Early disclosure, they are random but that was the point! The opening was pretty interesting but why was Nicki Minaj holding her top through her collaboration with Jessie J and Ariana Grande? Wardrobe malfunction... !
How ridiculously amazing is JLo's body? This woman is 45 years old and yet she only gets better with age.
I think Britney and Justin did it better.. but well done Katy for the the throwback! I think they just needed to do something more with the look for it to outdo the original moment.
I'm not loving Taylor Swift's outfit choice, this pattern just wasn't exciting enough and I still don't understand why these celebs keep walking around without pants?? However her reaction to Lourde winning the best Rock Music video was super cute!
My most surprising winner is definitely Fifth Harmony for Artist to Watch. While I liked them during their time on X-Factor I really didn't think they were going to beat 5 Seconds of Summer or Sam Smith but hey, girl power, right?
The most sincere performance goes to Sam Smith.. damn can he sing! I tried really hard to find a good clip of it but was unsuccessful, however if I do I'll put it up at a later stage.
However one of the more sincere moments would be when Miley had her friend, Jesse, a homeless youth accept her award for Video of the Year.
I know the internet was buzzing with Beyonce's performance but I'm not feeling particularly overwhelmed with praise but her daughter was pretty cute!
Hi
Everybody,I'm a bit very late today but here it goes...
I was
nominated for two Liebster Awards in one week and I’ve decided to combine the
two nominations so I wouldn’t bore you with too many facts about me.
Secondly,
this is not my first Liebster Award/Nomination so you can click here to check
my previous one out.
Why don’t
we get started?
11 Facts
about me:
1.I’m an Aquarian.
2.My birth date is the 21st
of January and when I was younger all the magazines I used to read would say
that Capricorn ended on the 21st and Aquarius started on the 21st
so my family used to say that was the reason for my multiple mood swings.
3.I don’t even really believe in
Horoscopes, do you?
4.My mother always calls me "Natalie" she never uses a nickname or pet name. Never. In TWENTY SEVEN years!
5.I haven’t actually figured out this
blogging thing even though I’ve been doing it for more than a year already.
While my readership has steadily increased my actual followers have been much
slower. Suggestions anyone?
6.I’ve been to a male strip club, it
was weird and I don’t plan on going again unless it’s for an occasion.
7.If I could, I would visit Ireland
every time I went on holiday.
8.I travelled through parts of Europe
on my own last year and I wasn’t even worried (unlike my dad)
9.I’m a lists kinda girl. I always
write out lists when I’m feeling overwhelmed so I can take charge of the
situation.
10.I unfollowed a few of the “big names” in the
blogging world while I liked the ladies
for the most part, I found at times I was marking their posts as read more
often than actually reading them.
11.Once
when walking through an airport, my jeans fell off me. Thankfully it was the
middle of winter in Europe so I had a whole additional layer of black thermals.
That’s for
me to know:
Katie’s Questions:
//what is your favorite movie, and why?
Dirty Dancing, I never get bored of watching it.
The soundtrack is great and I like that it was released the same year I was
born…
//if you could pick one thing to do for the rest of
your life, what would it be?
Travel around the world lecturing about law and the
importance of travel.
//describe your best friend.
This one is difficult because I have a few but the
qualities that they all share is that they are all independent woman who are
well educated, witty and protective of my heart. They are non-judgmental and
all share an appreciation for travel and books the way I do.
//comfort or style?
Comfort, while I don’t wlk around in crocs for
comfort I don’t wear ridiculous shoes just because they’re in.
//if we were to go out drinking together (in a bar
just hanging out), what do you think we would drink and talk about?
We would probably be drinking a sweet cocktail if I
get to choose and we’d be talking about our careers, new travel plans or
reminiscing on old ones and well, boys of course!
//have you ever done anything illegal? don't be
confessing your murders or anything like that to me, but like if you stole your
mom's car before or smoked weed. something like that.
Not that I can think of, I’ve never taken any drug
in any form and I haven’t stolen anything but I guess I did drive while being
over the legal limit when I was 18, it was a close drive but I’ve never done
that again.
//what's your favorite song? why? does it bring
back a special memory or do you just love the beat?
My all time favourite song is Debrorah Cox –
Nobody’s Suppose To Be Here the song was released at a very transitional time
in my life plus I love the lyrics.
//if you could swap genders with the opposite sex
for one day, what would you do?
I would have no idea what to do with myself, there is nothing that men do that I ave any desire in doing.. boring I know.
//would you rather use sandpaper for toilet paper
or hot sauce for eyedrops? yes, i love the would you rather game.
LMFAO… sandpaper, no hot sauce ok, sandpaper.
//what decade do you really think that you should
have been raised in? explanations are necessary.
I jump between the early 1900s and the 1950s. I
love chivalry and being treated like a lady and having men actually do the
pursing but then the problem I have is, what about woman’s rights were and I’m
grateful I wasn’t born then.
//am i the only person that actually really likes
nickelback, or do you too?
I like
nickleback, well, their music, I’m not necessarily a fan of the band members.
Doneida’s Questions:
**Whats your favorite TV Show? Tell me about
which character you most relate to!
There’s a few but I think I’m going to go with One
Tree Hill. I am a cross between Peyton and Hayley. Hayley for the good girl
image but Peyton for her feelings and they way she relates to music for comfort
or clarification.
**If you could have dinner with 3 deceased people,
who would it be and why?
Michael Jackson, I think he was a bit crazy but
clearly he was an intelligent man with a lot to say.
Nelson Mandela, I find it fascinating how he was
able to be so forgiving after all that he lost during the apartheid and I would
want to know what he really felt about how South Africa is 20 years post
apartheid.
My grandfather on my dad’s side of the family. I
would just want more time with him plus I think he would be able to lighten the
mood after Nelson Mandela said that SA is not what he hoped for and when MJ
realised that no plastic surgery was going to make him white on the inside.
**Whats the last thing you do at night?
Recently, I’ve been falling off to sleep watching
Orange Is The New Black but usually check my phone.
**Do you have any pets??
I have a horse,Uptothemoon but she’s a retired
racehorse and while my dad has told me repeatedly she’s not a pet, I love her
as if she is one!
**I love Big Brother, especially the Evictions. If
you could nominate one celebrity for “Eviction” from popularity, who would it
be, and why?
Good question… umm it’s a toss up between Lady Gaga
and Rhianna. I just don’t understand what the obsession is with these ladies.
While I respect it and their huge followings, they really don’t add much to my
life. I hate their dress sense or lack there of oh and could they take Kanye with
them???
**Who is your Favorite Singer? Song?
Mariah Carey – Whenever You Call.
**If a celebrity were to play you in a Lifetime
movie, who would you want it to be?
My little knowledge of indian actresses is a
problem right now but maybe Mindy or Frida Pinto. Mindy would have my
personality down but I don’t thin we look anything a like. Personality wise, I would opt for Zooey Deschanel.
**What’s your real life job?
I’m an attorney.
**What is the best gift that you have given? Why
did you choose to give that specifically?
For my bbf’s 30th birthday I gave her a
cd with 60 songs. 30 songs from each year of her life and another 30 that
either mean something in our friendship or relate to a specific moment. Plus I
included cake pop set because he has a passion for baking, a puzzle of Tower Bridge
because she loves difficult puzzles and Tower Bridge because I wanted it to be
something that she connected too and we had been to Tower Bridge together and I
bought her something else but I’ve completely blanked on it. It wasn’t
necessarily the best gift but one I remember well for the reasons I gave each
thing.
I really
make use of Period Diary. I am so forgetful and I always forget to put stuf in
my phone so I use this app to help me out also flymango.com because I’m always
looking for flights between Johannesburg and Cape Town!
I participated in the first #TOTALSOCIAL link up but for the last few months ago and every month I've been caught up and missed my opportunity to catch up with the lovely hosts, Sarah and Helene.
I wasn't planning on blogging today but I love the idea of this topic and I thought I've already blogged about my guilty pleasures but when looking for the post, it seems to have disappeared?!
This month, I get to share what I would consider my guilty pleasures:
// TV. I am not going to even try to sugar coat this. I love watching TV. In a 12 month period I watch about 20 40 plus shows. I get hooked very easily and once I'm in it, I'm in. I watch everything from Girls to Sister Sister reruns to Bold and the Beautiful. I love !watching the Bachelor/ Bachelorette and yes, I watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians, remember, Khloe is my favourite.
//Football. I watch a lot of football or soccer. Whatever you call it in your country, I watch a lot of the English Premier League. I watch a ridiculous amount of Liverpool FC documentaries.
//Steven Gerrard. I'm not sure if my obsession with him is even healthy. I also know, my celebrity crush cannot even be called a crush because I will talk about him any chance I get, also I post pictures of him all the time and I stalk his profile at an unhealthy level. I know some people say they get the appeal but others just flat out say he's not even that great but I honestly find him the most inspiring and sexy man around.
// Woolworths Chocolate Peanuts or Cadbury's Chocolate Peanuts. Being that I'm trying to be healthier I haven't eaten these in a while but oh my word, they are my favorite sweet choice. #SorryNotSorry
// My iPhone! A couple of weeks ago when I was having problems with the charger I was freaking out and those three days without my phone were horrible.
// Tevin Campbell's "I'm Ready" album will never get old, neither will the Spice Girls!
//Babies. I know that's a bit strange but I have always loved babies and I love holding their hands.
I'm not going to lie to any of you, I don't remember buying this book and I don't remember who gave it to me but can I say THANKS if it was you?! I'm a little bit late to post today but I've been spending time with my niece and well, she trumps you.. #SorryNotSorry
"I heart Hollywood" is the second in the I Heart series and by my previous paragraph, you'll realise I didn't buy this book so I didn't read the first one however the author, Lindsey Kelk, manages to keep you in the loop by referring to the previous novel and it sounds like it was hilarious.
Celebs, sunshine and beautiful boys…enough to lead a girl astray?
Angela Clark can’t believe her luck… she’s an English girl living in New York with a dream job at hip magazine The Look and a sexy boyfriend.
Her latest assignment takes her to Hollywood to interview hot actor and fellow Brit James Jacobs.Thrown in at the deep end she heads west with best friend Jenny dreaming of Rodeo Drive and Malibu beach.
Soon Angela discovers that celebrity life in Hollywood is not all glamour, gloss and sunshine. Despite his lady-killer reputation, the only person who seems genuine is James.
Then a paparazzi snaps them in an uncompromising position and suddenly Angela is thrust into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons…
Can she convince all those close to her – especially her boss and her boyfriend – not to believe everything they read? And will Hollywood ever win Angela’s heart?
I gave a quick review on goodreads which can be seen below but I wanted to add to it by saying I really enjoyed this book. While I liked Angela, I can't say I identified with her from my point of view although, she definitely reminded of my bff, A. As Angela made one decision after the next I could see A doing the same thing which is hilarious because none of the things Angela did was totally out there... This was an easy book once you got into the first 30 or 40 pages. I often thought Angela was a typical female in doubting herself and the ones around her.
In keeping with the theme of exploring my country, I thought I would give a new place a try. A friend of mine told me about this incredible ice-cream store, the creamery.
I thought she was exaggerating but this girl has an amazing body so I should have realized if she was cheating on her healthy lifestyle, it had to be worth the cheat.
The creamery can be found in Newlands, Cape Town but according to their latest blog, they are moving soon to bigger and better premises.
Last night I went to visit a friend who lives close by so I dragged her non ice-cream eating ass to go with me and I would pay with coffee. Turns out she didn't want the coffee but she would take mint tea and a waffle.
So, we went there at 10 , and the place was packed! We actually waited a few minutes for a seat and then we dashed to a table when a couple of ladies got up.
There are an array of ice-cream flavours and they are super original! However after tasting the lemon swirl and sea salt caramel I chose lemon swirl and the other flavour was peanut butter. I like peanut butter!
I didn't finish the lemon swirl but that's because that was way too much ice-cream even for a cheat meal...
My friend had a waffle with a banana brûlée and she added some chocolate sauce and LOVED that banana brûlée!
I liked the setting, it is perfectly placed near UCT and all the surrounding schools and it's trendy! You pay for the quality of homemade originally flavoured ice- cream and large quantities of happiness!
What's your favourite ice-cream? Or more importantly... Will you have ice-cream this weekend??
