Music Monday : Flashback to Nick Jonas and the Administration

This is going to seem like a strange post but I really love Nick Jonas' voice. Admittedly I am not the biggest Jonas Brothers fan in fact right now I can't think of a single song that they sing. It's not that there's anything wrong with them but for whatever reason, I have just not connected with them except for the youngest member of the group.

In early 2010, Nick Jonas, the youngest of the band members released a solo album.  By solo I mean without his brothers - the album was released by "Nick Jonas and the Administration" and is titled "Who I am". I went on to purchase it for a bargain at Musica one day and fell in love with his voice. I always heard the rumour that Nick was the one who was supposed to record on his own but I suppose selling a brand of 3 cute brothers is an easier sale as opposed to a little boy (Although Justin Bieber has certainly worked in that scenario).

The first three songs of the album are the my favourites. His voice is smooth, sensual and memorable. Surprisingly Nick cut the album in eight days with the producer, John Fields. Rose garden is a catchy tune thus easy to sing a long too. The lyrics are surprisingly sad :(
Who I am is the most popular song on the album. With enjoyable lyrics and a nice tune it was an obvious hit.

However, my favourite song is a toss up between  No.3 and No. 9. No.3 is "Olive & An Arrow" ,in this specific song, Nick's voice is so smooth and sultry. I've been told a time or two that I like soppy music but this is just a really good rock(ish)/folk(ish) ballad.

No.9 is "Vesper's Goodbye" and it is truly beautiful to listen too.

The Jonas brothers' have since reunited for further music albums but the problem I have with that is that Nick doesn't sing enough.

I like his celebrity status and his demeanour which was evident when he assisted Demi Lovato in America's  X Factor season 2 competition. He is clearly the strong silent type and he's grown into a super hot man! He's the second youngest in the family and seems very well put together. He has managed not to get too in the media with every relationship he has or has not been in, which must be difficult for a good looking and successful man. According to the site www.whosdatedwho.com he doesn't even seem to have a particular type.

Either way, it's great that he's back with his brothers for now but I really hope that he'll release another solo album because there's just not enough *Nick Jonas* in the Jonas Brothers.

Football Friday: Nacer Chali

While looking for some football Friday inspiration I came across a tumblr account which has loads of eye candy and which helped me find today's hottie!

He is Belgium (I think I should be taking a trip there, remember Eden Hazard?!) but he also has Moroccan ancestry which completely explains the look.

While I am aware that most if my readers are females and not necessarily into football as much as I am, I must warn all of you that once we get closer and closer to the season I will be including some soccer news highlights or my views on games etc. Now, don't moan... I promise you just having some sort knowledge about the game will impress your guy!

Back to this week's footie hottie... like I mentioned, I found him off another site but that's probably because he doesn't play for one of the most widely popular teams, FC Twente however he has managed to feature in the Champions League. Nacer, has dual citizenship however he has chosen to represent Belgium ahead of Morrocco.

There is not much informationI could find on him but I did find out that Swansea City may want to buy him which means he could be heading to the English Premier League but in the midst of researching him I came accross this article which says he could be heading my team! Is it fate, i sure hope so.. I imagine he will look great on the calendar!

Here are some pics to show you why I think he deserves to be Footie Hottie of the Week!

And he was so kind as to show us from the back ...

And while I was not sure if I should post this one, my rationing was simple.. who am I to choose  what you should and should not see?

Now tell me, wouldn't you want him to be in your calendar?

Have a good weekend everyone!

I wash it every second day and as soon as it starts to look dirty I wash it. When I'm talking to someone and their hair is dirty it actually erks me and in my head I'm screaming "Step away from the dirty hair person"! lol

4. I want to do both, I think it must be the most wonderful thing to spend all the time I have with the baby but knowing myself, I would regret it in time so I think working part time or flexi hours would suit me best.

5. Another easy one, Soccer / Football - depending where you live as to what you call it. I am obsessed with the game!

6. My paternal grandfather, I think when he passed away none of us were prepared and with him leading our family and I think if we could just have a little more time with him a lot would have changed so much.

7. My parents - they have influenced me to be everything I am.

8. Yoga and Salsa Dancing - two opposites but the sad thing is that now that I am back in Johannesburg I haven't found any classes that I like. I also enjoy Zumba but that aggreviates my back ache :(

9. Person! I always end up buying 10 items and then having to change or return at least 8 because I'm not happy with it. If I was doing my shopping online I would be running my charges up.

11. Dublin, Ireland. I actually wanted to move there last year but it didn't work out but maybe one day... The place was really friendly and there was just something in the air that kept me permanently in my happy place. Also - Cape Town, I miss living there and would move back in a second.

Musical Thoughts for July

I know you've probably had this conversation with at least three people today (I've had it with several more) BUT can you believe that it is the 1st of July!?

I thought instead of pledging anything or trying to search for motivation, I would look to some of my favourite lyrics and hope they shape the month ahead. And for those of you who haven't reached your goals or taken steps towards them yet - Come On! You FIVE more months to make this year count for something!!!

Hope you like the lyrics and I've included the links to YouTube in case you want to hear it....

Best of luck for July... we can do it!
